The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) on Wednesday announced results of the centralised annual examination of fifth grade and scholarship examination for eighth grade with girls grabbing all the top positions.
Students of Islamabad model schools and colleges and private educational institutions, and private candidates had sat these exams, which began late last month and ended early this month.
In the fifth grade examination, the overall first position was clinched by Rida Khurram of the Islamabad College for Girls, F-6/2, Islamabad, with 580 out of 600 marks.
The second position went to Arfa Emaan of the same college with 579 marks and third to Rabia of the Islamabad Model College for Girls, G-10/2, Islamabad, with 578 marks.
As for the eighth grade examination, Javeria Khalid of the Islamabad Model College for Girls, G-6/1-3, Islamabad, stood first, while the second position was shared by Laiba Fayaz of Islamabad Model College for Girls, F-10/2, and Hooriya Fatima of Islamabad Model College for Girls, G-10/2, Islamabad, with 649 marks.
The third position went to Mahnoor Javed of Islamabad Model College for Girls, F-6/2, Islamabad, with 647 marks.
A total of 500 merit scholarships (250 for girls and boys each) will be awarded to talented students on the basis of the results of the examinations subject to availability of funds.
