Around 3,000 children go missing in Karachi each year. That’s roughly around 8 to 9 children per day!
Spectrum Y&R collaborated with Roshni Helpline to conduct “Kites of Hope” – a kite flying event held on 27th March, 2016 between 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm at the Mehmoodabad Family Park. Roshni Helpline is an NGO that has been persistently working to locate missing children in Karachi.
The knowledge and information pertaining to missing children is restricted to the affectees. With the aim of building awareness about this issue, the idea behind “Kites of Hope” was to use the kite as a tool and turn it into a social vehicle to reach people in the high impact areas of Karachi. Kites with photographs and information of missing children along with Roshni Helpline’s number were distributed at the event. People at the event were also given information on preventive steps and on urgent action that needs to be taken if a child goes missing.
This event, an innovative way to highlight the issue of missing children, was largely attended.***
