HYDERABAD: Qaumi Awami Tehreek (QAT) President Ayaz Latif Palejo expressed concern over the worsening law and order situation in Karachi, which has not only put the life of professionals and common people at risk but also caused damage to the economy of the country. Addressing a press conference on Sunday at his party secretariat, Palejo said the federal and provincial governments were compromising over the situation, in which doctors, lawyers, traders and religious leaders were being killed by terrorists. Palejo said it seemed the people of Sindh were at the mercy of corrupt ruling elites, led by the PPP, who were patronizing the terrorists and killers to create anarchy. He asked why the report submitted was delayed and still the government was reluctant to take action against the terrorists? Palejo said the recent report submitted by the Rangers officials to the Sindh High Court (SHC), allegedly saying that the party men were involved in the factory fire in Baldia, in which 259 people were burnt alive in 2012. The incident was linked to the 200 million extortion amount allegedly demanded by a political party from the factory owner and in delay they set the factory on fire, causing huge human loss, he said. He demanded of the government to take action in the light of the Rangers report and arrest the accused without further delay. Palejo quoted the name of accused Rizwan Qureshi, “who confessed being involved in the fire incident under the tutelage of the MQM leaders”. The QAT leader said when the evidences were there, the government must take action to save the lives of the innocent people, who were being kidnapped and killed in Karachi. He said it was not the first incident in which “MQM’s terrorists” were involved.
