PPP criticises Nawaz-led govt for letting Musharraf go abroad
TIMERGARA: Activists of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Lower Dir chapter, on Sunday staged protest against the federal government for permitting Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf to go abroad.
The protesters were chanting slogans “Go Nawaz Go”. People’s Youth Organisation (PYO) provincial general secretary and district councillor Alamzeb advocate, former MPA Muhammad Zamin Khan, PSF Malakand Division president Fazal Hussain, former naib nazim of urban council Timergara Malik Javed Iqbal, former District Bar president Jehan Bahadar advocate, Malik Rahmatullah, Mubarak Khan and others spoke on the occasion.
“Pervez Musharraf toppled Nawaz Sharif’s government in 1999 and he was also wanted by the court in high-profile murder cases of Benazir Bhutto and Akbar Bugti but the same Nawaz Sharif’s government let Musharraf go abroad under a secret deal,” said one of the speakers.
The speakers recalled that Musharraf did not allow Nawaz to attend the funeral prayer of his father but the premier himself set the stage for the former dictator’s escape, which they termed a shameful act.
