DUBAI: In an effort to recognise and appreciate talented Pakistanis at an international level and to promote the soft and positive image of the country, Pakistan’s Ambassador at Large, Javed Malik presented an “Ambassador’s Recognition Award” to legendary Pakistani Singer Abida Parveen at an impressive ceremony attended by hundreds of people in Dubai, says a press release.
Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Javed Malik said, “Sufi poetry symbolises the message of peace, friendship and positive human relations which is highly relevant today because it encourages people to overcome their differences and promotes understanding through dialogue.
He appreciated the beautiful way in which Abida Parveen has melodiously brought Sufi lyrics to life, and said that she has distinguished herself as an iconic music maestro of modern times through her unique style and genre of music. As Pakistanis, we feel proud to see Abida Parveen acclaiming international fame for herself and our country, and therefore we present her this special award”.
He said that Pakistan’s social fabric is rich with poetry, Art, literature and music, and we have some very talented people around and a lot more needs to be done to project the richness of Pakistani culture to the world.
Abida Parveen, who performed to a packed venue in the UAE, received a standing ovation from hundreds of people for her mesmerising performance. She thanked Ambassador Javed Malik for giving her the recognition award. Another award was also presented to Pakistani organiser Ciyad Phahad.
