Governor for upgrades, construction of more parks

During a whirlwind visit of various parks and under-construction development projects on Tuesday, Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad said development was closely linked with law and order situation and as now peace was returning to the city, special focus would be given to it.

Expressing his dismay over the accumulation of sewerage water on the service road outside the newly constructed park in North Nazimabad, he directed the DMC central authorities to immediately remove and repair the faulty lines to ensure cleanliness in the area.

While inaugurating the family parks at Gulistan-e- Jauhar, block 15 and North Nazimabad block M, he said with the construction of such spots, the people of Karachi were provided a refreshing and relaxing space.

Dr Khan also visited under construction Nazimabad underpass and directed to accelerate the pace of work. “The debris excavated from the site should also be removed simultaneously so as to facilitate the commuters,” he said. “Negligence and non provision of funds were the main causes of dilapidated state of parks.”

In his visit to the Aziz Bhatti Park, he said a comprehensive plan has been chalked out in this regard, in which under public private partnership initiatives would be taken to improve the park.

“The lake present in the park would be improved, along with that cycle tracks would also be laid here. Besides establishing a mini zoo, the existing parking lot would be converted into a cricket playing area to facilitate the youth,” he announced.  

Governor Sindh said to aware the young generation about the contributions of Major Aziz Bhatti Shaheed, the inner wall of the park would be inscribed with salient features of his remarkable life.

Dr Khan also visited Jheel Park to look over progress on his recently issued directives; he reiterated that in view of maintaining the park, cooperation must be sought from the nearby residents.
