Pak squash player interrogated at Doha airport
KARACHI: Pakistan’s junior squash player Abbas Shoukat was stopped and released by Qatar immigration authorities on his way to participate in Qatar Junior Open.
It has been learnt that Abbas was stopped by the Qatar immigration authorities for “carrying some suspicious substance”.
“He was investigated for 24 hours,” said a source while talking to ‘The News’.
The source added that due to this detention Abbas had to skip his match in the first round of under-19 category against countryman Kashif Rasheed.
When contacted, Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) secretary Amir Nawaz said they did not know the details but the matter would be investigated when the player returned to Pakistan.
It may be noted here that no manager is with the 14 Pakistan players participating in Qatar Open and Doha Open.
