The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) organised a rally in Malir on Sunday to pay homage to its slain leader, Abdullah Murad, on his 12th death anniversary.

In his message, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari paid rich tributes to Murad, hailing him as a "brave leader who had struggled for democracy and sacrificed his life for the cause."

“Shaheed Abdullah Murad remained at the forefront of the movements launched by the PPP for the restoration of democracy and people’s rights and never looked back despite receiving threats from the terrorists and mafias,” he said.

From Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto to Shaheed Abdullah Murad, the party leadership and workers had always been sacrificing their blood and sweat for the country, he added.

Bilawal further said the PPP leadership and workers never forgotten their martyred  colleagues and they would extend their supports to accomplish the mission of the party leadership for emancipation of the masses and an egalitarian country.  PPP Karachi president Najmi Alam, Senator Saeed Ghani, Javed Nagori, Rashid Rabbani, Shah Jahan Khan and Salman Murad were among key PPP leaders, who spoke to the rally.

Senator Ghani said several conspiracies were hatched against their party, but its leaders never resorted to using abusive language and violence.  “The PPP cannnot be removed from the hearts and minds of the people," he said.
