Islamabad: The majority of private schools and universities in the federal capital remained closed on Tuesday.
The campus closure came over security concerns triggered by the execution of Mumtaz Qadri.
As funeral prayers of Mumtaz Qadri was held in Liaquat Bagh, Rawalpindi, on Tuesday, Islamabad’s most privately-owned educational institutions kept their respective campus shut.
They announced the decision on whether to reopen campus on Wednesday would be made after reviewing the law and order situation.
However, there is a likelihood of the schools resuming classes today (Wednesday).
A day ago, these schools closed campuses ahead of schedule fearing violence in Rawalpindi after the hanging of Mumtaz Qadri.
However, the low-cost private educational institutions didn’t close and went ahead of final examinations.
Also in the day, the Quaid-i-Azam University, National University of Sciences and Technology, International Islamic University, National University of Modern Languages and Comsats Institute of Information Technology also remained closed in line with earlier announcements.
