Official rates of perishable items not enforced

LAHORE:The district administration’s efforts to control price-hike and overcharging proved to be futile due to the non-implementation of the official rates of all perishable items, grains, pulses and meat across the City.

Almost three to five rates of each edible items are being witnessed in the City while the lowest quality of all edibles are being sold at the highest official rates issued by the district government. This exposes the “efforts” of the district management to implement the official rates and control the artificial price-hike due to price list violations.

This week price of chicken was increased by Rs11 per kg, fixed at Rs244-252 per kg, sold at Rs280-310 per kg, and chicken meat gained by Rs16 per kg, fixed at Rs378 per kg, and sold at Rs420-700 per kg.

The price of potato soft skin new A-grade was unchanged at Rs84-90 per kg, B-Grade Rs75-80 per kg, C-grade at Rs65-70 per kg, not sold, potato sugar-free A-grade further gained by Rs4 per kg, fixed at Rs57-62 per kg, sold at Rs100-120 per kg, B-grade by Rs9 per kg, fixed at Rs52-57 per kg, sold at Rs70-80 per kg, C-grade at Rs44-48 per kg, sold at Rs60 per kg, potato white reduced by Rs4 per kg, fixed at Rs33-36 kg, sold at Rs50 per kg.

The price of onion A-grade was gained by Rs45 per kg, fixed at Rs158-170 kg, sold at Rs200-220 per kg, B-grade by Rs43 per kg, at Rs140-150 per kg, sold at Rs160-180 per kg, and C-grade by Rs38 per kg, fixed at Rs120-128 per kg, sold at Rs140-150 per kg. The price of tomato A-grade gained by Rs20 per kg, fixed at Rs212-225 per kg, sold at Rs350-400 per kg, B-grade by Rs25 per kg, fixed at Rs194-205 per kg, and C-grade at by Rs30 per kg, fixed at Rs180-190 per kg, B&C sold at Rs240-280 per kg.

The price of garlic local was gained by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs230-240 per kg, sold at Rs280-320 per kg, and garlic Chinese by reduced Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs285-300 sold at Rs350-400 per kg.

The price of Ginger Thai was further increased by Rs20 per kg, fixed at Rs375-390 per kg, and Chinese by Rs25 per kg, fixed at Rs330-345 per kg, both sold at Rs420-460 per kg. Cucumber Farm unchanged at Rs40-42 per kg, sold at Rs60-80 per kg and cucumber local fixed at Rs47-49 per kg, sold at Rs100-120 per kg.

Brinjal price increased by Rs2 per kg, fixed at Rs40-42 per kg, sold at Rs50-60 per kg. Bitter gourd was unchanged at Rs55-58 per kg, sold at Rs70-80 per kg.

Spinach price was reduced by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs28-30 per kg, sold at Rs50-60 per kg. Zucchini local reduced by Rs20 per kg, fixed at Rs150-158 per kg, sold at Rs300 per kg, Zucchini Farm by Rs13 per kg, fixed at Rs42-44 per kg, and Zucchini long was fixed at Rs42-44 per kg, both sold at Rs80-100 per kg. The price of lemon local declined by Rs40 per kg, fixed at Rs172-180 per kg, not sold, lemon Chinese by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs65-70 per kg, sold at Rs140-160 per kg.

Pumpkin was reduced by Rs15 per kg, fixed at Rs45-47 per kg, sold at Rs70-100 per kg, pumpkin long was sold at Rs160-200 per kg. Sweet pumpkin was reduced by Rs13 per kg, fixed at Rs47-49 per kg, sold at Rs80 per kg. Ladyfinger was reduced by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs90-95 per kg, sold at Rs150-160 per kg. Arum was increased by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs100-105 per kg, sold at Rs140-160 per kg. Green chili price A-grade was further reduced by Rs75 per kg, fixed at Rs225-235 per kg, sold at Rs300-320 per kg, B-grade by Rs40 per kg, fixed at Rs160-165 per kg, sold at Rs250-280 per kg.

Capsicum price reduced by Rs80 per kg, fixed at Rs125-130 per kg, sold at Rs200-250 per kg. Price of cauliflower was reduced by Rs8 per kg, fixed at Rs47-49 per kg, sold at Rs60-80 per kg, cabbage was gained by Rs30 per kg, fixed at Rs100-105 per kg, sold up to Rs150-180 per kg.

Carrot Chinese was unchanged at Rs160-165 per kg, sold at Rs300-320 per kg, carrot local was gained by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs60-64 per kg, sold at Rs80-100 per kg. Fenugreek (Methi) was reduced by Rs8 per kg, fixed at Rs40-42 per kg, sold Rs80-100 per kg. Beetroot was sold at Rs240 per kg. Coriander was sold at Rs40 per bundle. Green beans were sold at Rs280-320 per kg against the price of Rs60-105 per kg. Radish price was reduced by Rs7 per kg, fixed at Rs26-28 per kg, sold at Rs25-30 per kg. Pea price was reduced by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs240-250 per kg, sold at Rs400 per kg.
