BSF kills two Rangers men after calling them for meeting

SIALKOT: The Indian Border Security Forces (BSF) fraudulently shot dead two unarmed officials of the Pakistani Chenab Rangers in the Shakargarh sector of the Sialkot Working Boundary on Wednesday.
According to Punjab Rangers sources, five officials of the Chenab Rangers were heading towards the Indian post at 11:00am for a flag meeting in the Shakargarh sector, earlier requested by the sector commander of the Indian BSF.
When the Chenab Rangers officials got close to the Indian post for the meeting, the Indian BSF personnel, shamelessly and deceptively, opened fire, seriously injuring two of them, Naik Muhammad Riaz and Lance Naik Muhammad Safdar. However, the other three managed to save their lives.
Meanwhile, the Indian BSF continued unprovoked firing for more than six hours in order to bar the Pakistani Chenab Rangers officials from removing and rescuing two of their injured colleagues, who later embraced martyrdom at the spot due to fatal injuries and excessive bleeding. The Chenab Rangers retaliated the Indian firing in a befitting manner.
The Punjab Rangers spokesman condemned the incident, terming it ‘the very first’ of its kind and quite shameful on the part of the Indian BSF.
Our Lahore correspondent adds: A Rangers spokesman said the victims were going for a flag meeting called by officials of the Indian border force when unprovoked firing was started at around 11:00am. The firing stopped at 14:10pm. As a result, two officials embraced martyrdom. Their Namaz-e-Janaza was held at Wing Headquarters, Shakargarh.
Repeating such incidents every year, especially at national and religious events like Eidul Fitr, Eidul Azha and Eid Miladun Nabi, is a practice of the Indian BSF. They open unprovoked fire at posts of the Punjab Rangers and villages which result in the loss of humans, animals and property. Unlike the Punjab Rangers, the BSF do not spare civilians who cross the border mistakenly and shoot them dead. For example, the Punjab Rangers returned unharmed two Indian civilians, Satiya Shel Yadav and Pooja, who mistakenly crossed the Pakistani border.
Our correspondent adds from Islamabad: Pakistan, while condemning the action of the BSF troops, urged India to maintain peace and tranquillity along the Line of Control (LoC) and the working boundary.
Indian Deputy High Commissioner JP Singh was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to lodge a strong protest on the unprovoked firing of Indian troops.
The government of India has been urged to investigate the incident, bring the perpetrators to justice, and ensure maintenance of peace and tranquillity along the LoC and the working boundary.
