Minister says funds provided to make facilities available at govt schools

PESHAWAR: Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Muhammad Atif Khan has said that the Khyber Pakhtun-khwa government has provided Rs21 billion to make the missing facilities available at the state-run schools.

 He said the problems of missing basic facilities in government schools would be resolved on a permanent basis.  According to an official handout, he was speaking as chief guest at a daylong awareness workshop on conditional grant for nazims. The Elementary and Secondary Education Department had organised the event.

 Secretary Education Dr Shahzad Bangash, Secretary Local Government Syed Jamaluddin Shah, DG Local Government Aamir Latif, Director Schools Rafiq Khattak, District nazims and DEOs attended the workshop. Muhammad Atif said the government for the first time in the history of the province had allocated more than Rs100 billion for education.  He deplored that in the past education was not the priority of the past government.
