Knowledge is cure of terrorism: Saudi official
Islamabad
Knowledge is the cure of terrorism. The top most priority of Muslim scholars must be to nurture Muslim youths in appropriate manner so they could eschew the violent and negative attitudes, Adviser to the Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs Sheikh Abdullah Al-Amri said during a visit to the International Islamic University (IIU) here on Thursday.
Accompanied by a high-level delegation of the Saudi Islamic affairs ministry, Sheikh Majid Al-Mirsal said his country's universities would continue cooperating with the IIU.
He hoped that mutual ties of the brotherly states would further grow.
Sheikh Majid Al-Mirsal said Pakistan and Saudi Arabia had strong historical bilateral relations, while both nations always stood with each other in difficult times.
He said negative elements working on the agenda of weakening the Muslim unity must be countered with a comprehensively devised strategy and by character building of the youths in the light of teachings of Islam. He lauded IIU for producing moderate personalities who are introduced with Islamic values.
The delegation was given a briefing about the university during a meeting chaired by IIU Rector Dr. Masoom Yasinzai and President Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh and attended by the university's vice presidents, deans, DG, directors and other officials.
“It is a need of hour to set education as top priority and IIU would keep working on this core objective by sharing its experiences and seeking cooperation with other institutions of Muslim world," said the IIU rector.
