Muslim countries should avoid meddling in each other’s affairs: Ulema moot

Urges resolution of all issues through reconciliation; condemns terrorism, extremism, sectarian violence

ISLAMABAD: Leaders from different Islamic countries and 5,000 Ulema and scholars from all over Pakistan at the platform of ‘Paigham-e-Islam Conference’ urged the Muslim countries to abstain from interference in each other’s affairs and resolve all the problems through reconciliation. 

The Message of Islam Conference which was held here at Convention Centre under the aegis of Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC) on Wednesday also stressed to constitute Islamic ideological and intellectual alliance for eradication of terrorism, extremism and sectarian violence. Mufti-e-Azam Palestine Muhammad Ahmed Hussein presided over the conference and ambassadors, scholars of different Islamic countries and ambassadors of Denmark, European Union and Bosnia also attend the event.

Chairman PUC Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi chaired first-session of the conference and urged on government to ensure implementation on all points of National Action Plan (NAP) against terrorism. Leader of the House in Senate Raja Zafarul Haq while addressing at the conference said that unity is sole and ultimate solution to address challenges of Islamic Ummah and Message of Islam Conference is a positive initiative in right direction.

He said that elements associating terrorism and extremism with Islam are not serving Islam and with the guidance of Quran-o-Sunnah challenges of Islamic world could be addressed.

Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Yousaf said that government is willing and making endeavours to reform not only seminaries but also schools and colleges and Message of Islam Conference will assist in the longer run to defeat terrorism and extremism. He also clarified that the government is not going to take any action against seminaries, and seminaries do not need to feel scared in this regard.

Ambassador of European Union in Pakistan said that endeavours on part of Ulema in Pakistan for rights of women and interfaith harmony are commendable. He hoped that the PUC will further strengthen efforts in this regard.

Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Abdullah Al-Zahrani said the Saudi government is grateful to the government of Pakistan, adding that Pakistan’s government being true friends has always supported Saudi cause. He said that unity and alliance is panacea to address challenges of entire Muslim world.

While addressing in second session of the conference, Minister for Information Senator Pervaiz Rashid said that it is responsibility of Ulema and religious scholars to contain elements propagating on account of Islam and pinned hope that Message of Islam Conference will guide the nation in right direction. He said the government of Pakistan is willing to eradicate menace of terrorism and extremism and Ulema should educate the youth against menaces of extremism.

Secretary General Pakistan Ulema Council Sahibzada Zahid Mehmood Qasmi said that conspiracies are being hatched against Iran and Saudi Arabia and with unity these conspiracies could be contained.

Palestinian Amabssador to Pakistan said that endeavours and sacrifices of people of Kashmir and Palestine will bring revolutions for them.

Mufti-e-Azam Palestine Muhammad Ahmed Hussein in his address said that Ulema of Islam should get united and initiate joint struggle to contain propaganda of extremist organisations. He said he is thankful to people and government of Pakistan for inviting him on this auspicious occasion in Pakistan. He said that issues of Kashmir and Palestine could only be settled when killings of innocent people will come to an end. He also said that foreign interference in affairs of Islamic world should come to an end.

The conference was also attended by delegates of different Islamic countries and representatives of different schools of thought in Pakistan.

On the conclusion, the conference adopted a declaration that endeavours would be made for eradication terrorism, extremism, sectarian violence. The declaration declared all those organisations anti-Islam and anti-Muslim world that are responsible for killings of innocent people.

The conference held Daesh and other such terrorist organisations responsible for prevailing challenges of Muslims. It termed these organisations as continuation of ‘Khawarij’. It said all these terrorists organisations which attack at colleges, schools and educational institutes are anti-Islam and anti-Muslims.

The conference condemned terrorist attacks at colleges, schools and worship places and vowed that they will continue their endeavours for promotion of peace in Pakistan and all over Islamic world.

The conference also condemned unfortunate incident in Iran in which Saudi embassy building was put on fire. It also condemned brutal attack of terrorists at Charsadda University and anti-education conspiracies of terrorist organisations. It also condemned terrorist attacks in Saudi Arabia.

The conference also supported the Saudi-led military and political alliance of Islamic countries and decision of Pakistan government to become part of this alliance.
