Cop among two killed in Mardan encounter
MARDAN: An assistant sub-inspector (SI) and the brother of a proclaimed offender were killed while a police constable sustained injuries in an encounter in the limits of Lundkhwar Police Station on Wednesday, police sources said.
The sources said that acting on a tip-off a police party led by ASI Sultan Khan raided a house in Sajan Killay where a proclaimed offender Imran was present.An exchange of fire took place between the police and the proclaimed offender and his brother Salman at about 9am.
ASI Sultan Khan and the brother of the proclaimed offender Salman were killed in the clash while a police constable identified as Mohammad Shoaib was seriously injured.
The injured constable was rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital in Mardan where his condition was stated to be stable. The proclaimed offender later surrendered to the police, the sources added.
