Woman shot dead by estranged husband
Karachi
A woman was shot dead by her estranged husband when she came to the house of in-laws to take her dowry back in Manzoor Colony on Saturday morning, a police official said.
Uzma, 30, had married Abid eight months ago, but just two months later she returned to her parents’ home after developing differences with her husband.
The two families held talks to settle the matter, but in vain.
On Saturday morning, Uzma along with her family members came to her in-laws’ house to take back her dowry.
However, an argument took place between her and Abid, who became infuriated, pulled out a pistol and opened fire, injuring his wife and three other people.
Station House Officer (SHO) Malik Saleem of the Baloch Colony Police Station said that after being called to the house, police rushed to the house and found four people, including two women, lying injured.
The police took the casualties to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), where Uzma succumbed to her injuries.
The injured were named as Khuda Bux, his daughter Sana and Farhan.
The SHO said that the police later arrested Abid and found the murder weapon on him.
