Islamabad: For the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) students enrolled in government schools and colleges, the Punjab Educational Endowment Fund has renewed the quota of 30 scholarships for the academic year 2015-16.
Of the scholarships, 18 are for intermediate students and 12 for graduation ones.
Every year, the PEEF allocates special scholarship quotas for meritorious and deserving students of all provinces other than Punjab, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Fata, Gilgit-Baltistan and Islamabad Capital Territory.
The scholarships are given away to those, who have passed matriculation and intermediate courses from government educational institutions, for intermediate and graduation programme in their respective provinces or other parts of the country.
Now as the PEEF has renewed the scholarship quota for the ICT students, the Federal Directorate of Education has sought recommendations for the purpose from Islamabad’s government colleges and schools.
January 20 has been set as the last date to forward nominations to the FDE.
According to the terms and conditions, only those who possess the Islamabad domicile and passed matriculation or intermediate courses in the annual 2015 examinations through the government schools and colleges will be considered for the scholarships.
The candidates should also have at least 60 per cent marks (first division) in their latest exams. Besides the monthly income of their families from all sources should also be equal to or less than Rs15,000 each.
If at all possible, the scholarships will be distributed to boys and girls equally.
At maximum, 20 per cent of the scholarships will be awarded to meritorious students, who are either orphans, children of government employees working in BPS-1-4, non-Muslims, or persons with disabilities.
The FDE has directed the principals of Islamabad model colleges, Federal Government colleges and Islamabad Model Schools, all overseen by it, to submit scholarship forms to it by January 20.
