IIU eyes collaboration with Afghan universities

Islamabad: The International Islamic University (IIU) is keen to expand collaboration with Afghanistan universities.

This was stated by IIU President Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh during a meeting with Afghanistan’s Political Counsellor to Pakistan S A Nasir Yousofi, who called on him in his office here.

During the meeting, issues of mutual interest and matters pertaining to expand bilateral cooperation between IIU and Afghan universities were discussed, while both the
officials agreed that
strong relationships among the two sides in the
field of education can pave the way for success of region.

Nasir Yousofi said that for Afghanistan, IIU is of great importance as a number of Afghan graduates of the university have been performing their duties on key administrative and educational posts in Afghanistan.

He added that contribution of IIU graduates in the field of economy was admirable.

He lauded IIU for providing contemporary education to young minds with a blend of Islamic teachings.

The Afghan political counselor also assured that he would play his role
for strengthening ties between IIU and Afghan universities.

During the meeting, Dr. Al-Draiweesh apprised him regarding IIU faculties, departments, conferences and other activities and told that almost a thousand Afghan students were studying in the university which he termed as a precious asset of the university.

He added that IIU was keen to expand bilateral ties with all universities of Islamic countries, including Afghanistan.

The IIU president
said the doors of the IIU were wide open for cooperation in the field of education.

He reiterated his resolve that provision of harmonious educational milieu to the students was the top priority of the IIU, while university would keep working for the dissemination of Islam’s message of peace and moderation.  In the end, exchanges of souvenirs and gifts took place between both sides.
