All academic institutions running under Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) reopened here on Monday after winter vacation started on December 28. Students enjoyed a break of 11 days clubbing four extra leaves of Eid Milad-un-Nabi Christmas and last weekend with the winter holidays fortunately falling back to back.

However private institutions would resume their classes today (Tuesday) after the winter break.

The attendance remained thin on the first academic day of the new year making the rainy weather an excuse for lethargic students.

Asma Khattak a mother of three children said today my children were not ready to go to school and I also did not take risk of sending them on a rainy day as a precautionary measure to keep them save from cold.

She said normally students are in leisure mood after a break and the teachers also keep them relax to take them back on making their momentum for hectic studies.

Sidra Batool a teacher of Federal Government Model School for Girls, G-7/2 said it’s a very bad trend that children are not ready to concentrate after vacation. She said it is responsibility of parents to follow study timings of their children in winter or summer break so that they are ready and eagerly wait for restarting their studies in academic institutions.
