LAHORE
THE Punjab government has lifted a ban on recruitments against the posts from BS-1 to BS-4 in the public sector departments.
In this regard, Regulation Wing of Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD) has issued a notification directing the heads of all provincial departments and autonomous institutions to fill the vacant posts from BS-1 to BS-4 in their respected departments and institutions as per the provincial government policy.
Furthermore, according to the notification, the disabled persons quota has been increased from two to three percent. According to the notification, 15 percent quota has been fixed for women, 20 percent for the children of government employees and five percent for minorities.
The administrative secretaries of provincial departments and autonomous bodies have been directed that the quota for all categories should be worked out with precision and it should be duly reflected in the advertisements.
They have been directed that all recruitments should be made on merit as per the recruitment policy and the provincial government’s policy about recruitments should be strictly complied with in letter and spirit.
Sources privy to the developments said the ban on contractual employments had been lifted after three-day long protest demonstration taken out by blind persons outside the Punjab Assembly last week when the House was in session. They said the blind persons were not suitable for the jobs of Class-IV employees since it included the jobs of watchman, peon and others. Already the blind quota seats in BS-1 to-4 are lying vacant since they are not fit for such kind of jobs, they added. Interestingly posts of Class-IV for women quota too are lying vacant as women too are also not suitable for these posts.
They said the ruling party parliamentarians had been demanding the party leadership to lift the ban on recruitments so that the party workers could be accommodated. They said as per the recruitment policy, all recruitments would be made on contractual basis. It has been a routine policy of political governments that they make contractual appointments after coming into power and regularise them near the election to win the political support of the government employees, they observed.
