Rootsians win Technovation Challenge

Roots Ivy girl-students won the quarter finals of Technovation Challenge 2016, an all girls competition worldwide to promote global technological entrepreneurship, says a press release.
Two teams from Roots Ivy Schools, DHA-1 campus participated in the age group category 9-14 years and won the Regional Pitch Finals from all over Pakistan by competing against 30 teams.
Team Sabeel won 1st position by making an all-purpose charity app to help the society. The team members include Amal Kashif, Haneen Azhar & Abeeha Zahra, who were guided and mentored by team mentor Samya Kashif.
Sabeel app is a non-profit, universal platform for donating charity to all kinds of credible NGOs in Pakistan as well as to a list of deserving individuals/ families in the community identified by our research team and to poor girls who are unable to get married because their families cannot afford to give a reasonable ‘dowry’. alongside money, this app can donate spare clothes, food and other household items. In Pakistan, currently no such charity/donation system exists that connects you to all NGOs and deserving individuals/ families but with the help of Sabeel, an equality of wealth can be achieved in the society through the equitable transfer of belongings.
Team Marfe won second position by making an app to donate books to help the society. The team members include Meerab, Emaan, Fatima and Areeba who were mentored by Abeera Usman.
Roots Ivy CEO Khadija Mushtaq congratulated both teams of Roots Ivy on this brilliant achievement. Speaking on the occasion, she said, “Participation in international technological competitions requires an extensive knowledge on the current technological trends in the market. Well done my brilliant students. All of you have proven once again that determination, hard work and motivation are the primary elements of success. I am so proud of you all on winning the Regional Pitch Finals from all over Pakistan by competing against 30 teams. This is indeed a great honour for Pakistan and another significant milestone achievement for Roots Ivy.”
Roots Ivy’s vision is to promote young talent through global leadership, technology and representing the highest ideals worldwide. The semi finalists will qualify to present their final pitch in San Francisco and win prize money of $10,000 to implement their projects. The Technovation Challenge 2016 was for the very first time conducted by Pakistan Innovation Foundation (PIF) in Pakistan. PIF is a private non-profit organization and platform created to help promote science and innovation within the youth and the broader society at large.
