PCS, PMS officers call off strike after assurance

PESHAWAR: The Provincial Civil Service (PCS) and Provincial Management Service (PMS) officers on Tuesday called off their strike and sit-in after the assurance by the cabinet committee to resolve their problems.

The strike was called off following deliberations of the PCS and PMS officers with the cabinet committee led by Senior Minster Sikandar Khan Sherpao at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat.

The PMS and PCS officers were represented by chairman of the joint association of the provincial civil service officers and senior PCS executive cadre officer Khalid Khan Umarzai, chairman Sarhad Development Authority (SDA) Sajjad Khan Jadoon and Secretary Mines and Minerals Development, Zaheerul Islam.

The 30-member core committee of the protesting officers also participated in the talks. The officers were assured that the government would resolve the issues as soon as possible.

However, a timeframe of month was worked out to resolve the problems being raised by the officers that include equitable distribution of vital and field positions among various cadres of the civil services, promotions and career progression.

The officers were assured that the administrative issues would be resolved at the earliest, while the reforms committee led by provincial Minister for Mines and Minerals Anisa Zeb Tahirkheli would also take up the case of the PMS and Pakistan Administrative (PAS) officers posting pending before it.
