KARACHI: Renowned research scholar, former state minister for religious affairs, analyst and author of several books Dr Aamir Liaquat Hussain delivered a special lecture on the Geo Television Network’s live telecast on the eve of Shab-e-Barat.

Thousands of faithful and his fans gathered to listen to his special address at the venue of the event, which lasted for seven hours.  Dr Aamir Liaquat Hussain, while highlighting the importance of the month of Shaban, said that this is Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) month. He added that Hazrat Imam Hussain RA was born in the same month.

Replying to objections raised by some critics to the coming Ramazan’s special transmission named “Pak Ramazan”, he said that the holy month was not an object -- God forbid-- that can be sold.

Duration of special transmission is from “Sehar” to “Iftar” and it is arranged keeping in view the fast and prayers. However, following the “Iftar” normal prime time transmission is commenced.  During this period, some of the TV channels telecast dramas and other entertainment programmes. We also strive to entertain viewers in a light way but this causes undue disturbance to some critics.  Those present on the stage included ST chief Sarwat Ejaz Qadri, renowned social worker Ramzan Chhipa, Dr Fazal Ahmed, Tanzeem-e-Ittehad Ummat Pakistan’s Chairman Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq Naqsbandi, Dr Rehan Mustafa Rathore, Mufti Abdul Qadir, Imran Noori, Ali Muhammad, Atif Hanif Biloo, Sheheryar Tariq and Naat Khawan Moin Alam. Renowned Naat Khawans recited Naats and Maulana Syed Muhammad Ali Shah offered Dua.  At the end of the transmission, 20 lucky participants were given Umrah tickets through a lucky draw.
