We have experienced the hottest May ever. So when are we going to start planting trees on the big, newly constructed roads made to counter the ever-growing traffic? Planting palm trees on the pattern of Dubai on main boulevards and big roads is not the answer. We need to plant trees that suit our own climate and weather.
Shady trees should have been planted ages ago. And no new road project should be started before surveying the climate conditions and atmosphere. We have not experienced such a spike in temperature in recent years. Needless to say, it is because of the concrete structures we have constructed in complete disregard to local weather conditions. The government should get serious about planting trees now.
