Amin, Rayyan move ahead in Essa Lab Open
KARACHI: Amin Shafi, M Dada, and Rayyan Sohail moved into the semi-finals of their categories in the 4th Essa Lab Open at Karachi Gymkhana on Thursday.
In the quarter-finals of under-16 singles Amin beat Summit Das 6-4, 6-2, while in the quarters of under-14 singles M Dada thrashed Farooq Atique 6-0, 6-0 and Rayyan Sohail defeated Abdullah khan 7-5, 6-1.
In men’s singles first round M Waqas beat Ahmer Ahsan 6-0, 2-0 (retired) and Waseel Raza smashed Ali Imran 6-1, 6-0.
Robin Das got walkover against Talha Abrar and Saad Ahmed got walkover against Kamran Ahmed.
Eibad Sarwar beat Mujahidullah Khattak 6-3, 7-5 and Parbat beat Samad Areejo 6-1, 6-2 in the first round of under-18 singles. Earlier, in the qualifying round, Samad Arejo beat Mazher 3-6, 3-6 and Parbat beat Kamran Bashir 6-1, 6-1.
In under-12 singles second round, Abdullah Khan beat Renak Das 8-1, Hammad Khan beat Haris Tariq 8-4, and Ibrahim Khan beat Kirtan Mukesh 8-1.
Zain Ehtisham beat Hassan Jamal 8-3 in the under-10 singles first round.
Abdul Saeed beat Noman Farid 6-1, 7-5 and M Manzar beat M Naseem 6-0, 6-1 in the 35 singles first round.
This grade one national event carrying prize money of Rs100,000 is being organised by Sindh Tennis Association (STA).
