The pre-school children of Preparatory School Islamabad (PSI) celebrated their annual programme with the theme ‘Once Upon a Time,’ says a press release.

The programme featured delightful performances by little children between two and six years, with a special guest appearance by the third graders in their hilarious version of well-loved fairy tales- Fractured Fairy Tales.

The programme began as the little ones gave thanks to Allah for the miracle of creation. The host of angelic fairies, princes and princesses flitted on and off the stage and set it alive in myriad spell-binding performances against an enchanting backdrop, put together by the PSI staff.

The parents enjoyed the performance of these little ones, sang and danced to new and old tunes. The selection of performances was diverse and one found oneself under and Arabian spell one moment and right in the middle of Cinderella’s birthday party in another. A blend of Urdu and English poems and songs went out to show that at PSI, the love for both languages is instilled in children from a young age.

The choir’s performance is worthy of special mention. The mockingbirds and nightingales of PSI crooned melodious tunes in sync. The most remarkable aspect was that the programme showcased the talent of the children alone, as was evident from the announcements as well as the performances.

Principal Shabnam Ashraf said, “Training children in the goodness of the heart and mind, in the beauty of nature, in the love of knowledge and in both, the dignity of defeat and the glory of freedom, is our humble aim.”

The enchanting programme ended in a fashion with a firework display, as the performers gathered to sing ‘Firework’ with great gusto.

The presentation uplifted the spirit of the audience and promised that though Pandora’s box may have nothing left but hope, it is this hope that will bring the magic of change to this troubled world.
