School sale
By our correspondents
April 30, 2016
This refers to the news (Islamabad edition) picture captioned, ‘Students protest privatisation of the Auqaf Model School in Tangi area of Charsadda district’ (April 29, page 2). This school should have been placed under a trust. According to the Evacuee Trust Act, evacuee property cannot be privatised or transferred for any commercial purpose.
The actual reason to privatise the school may be to save the evacuee grant that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has been giving to this school. A lawyer should come forward to rescue this school in Charsadda. Sending a single notice to the Auqaf Department may be enough to stop the privatisation.
