The Pet Centre of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore organised a seminar to create awareness about 'Zoonotic diseases of pets and human health' here on Wednesday. 

According to a press release issued here, Vice-Chancellor Meritorious Professor Dr Talat Naseer Pasha chaired the concluding session of the seminar while Dean Faculty of Veterinary Science Prof Dr Khushi Muhammad presided over the inaugural session. 

Speaking on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha said that main objective of the seminar was to gather the veterinary and medical professionals at one platform and share knowledge about the diseases transmitted by pets (dogs and cats) to humans and their prevention.

He appreciated the efforts of pet centre team and guest speakers for arranging a clinically-important and knowledge-based healthy activity for faculty members and postgraduate students. 

Speakers representing human and veterinary health sectors included Dr Asim Khalid Mahmood, CEO Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital & Research Centre Dr Faisal Sultan, MD Dean Faculty of Medicine & Allied Sciences, King Edward Medical University Lahore Prof Dr Atif Kazmi, Department of Epidemiology & Public Health Chairman Prof Dr Mansoor-ud-Din Ahmad, Dr Uzma Farid Durrani spoke about various aspects of the zoonotic diseases. Faculty members and postgraduate students attended the seminar.
