Islamabad
The Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia (CEMCA) has decided in principle to provide multimedia support to the Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) for introduction of twelve skill-based courses in the fields of multimedia, vocational training and agriculture.
Initially, two courses will be launched relating to audio-video recording and editing. In this connection, CEMCA will come up with technical and financial support while the courses have been developed by the university’s Institute of Educational Technology (IET) in collaboration with state-run television channel and radio.
Addressing the courses’ review-meeting here on Thursday, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shahid Siddiqui said these courses will help develop expertise and necessary know-how for arranging vocational and technical training for youth and female section of the society.
This, he said is part of university’s consistent efforts to promote its collaboration with national and international institutions to equip its students with latest knowledge and technology. The AIOU, he said wanted to utilize its available potential and infrastructure strength for addressing socio-economic issues of the society through academic and research-based activities.
