Innocent Nawaz
Nawaz Sharif has claimed that he and his brother Shahbaz Sharif are not the owners or beneficiaries of the offshore accounts/companies being operated under the name of their children, who are doing business in foreign countries. Many people are celebrating the honesty and integrity of the PM, but no one has thought that how the PM’s message will be construed by foreign investors, who are being asked to invest in Pakistan. They would ask: why is the Sharif family asking them to invest in Pakistan when they are advising their children to invest abroad?
The FBR and the government should enact laws to stop wealthy Pakistanis from hiding wealth abroad to avoid taxes. Similarly, NAB and the State Bank should investigate if the system can be used to send money to terrorists in the country.
