Pesco hints at seeking NAB’s help to recover Rs56 billion arrears 

PESHAWAR: Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) Anwarul Haq Yousafzai on Monday took note of the poor performance of some divisions of the company and suspended an Executive Engineer (XEN) and five subdivisional officers (SDOs) of the power distribution company.The CEO also expressed dissatisfaction and concern over the progress in reading of photometers.

The Pesco CEO expressed concern over the performance of some sectors of the company during an important meeting that he presided at the Wapda House Peshawar.Superintending Engineers of Peshawar, Khyber, Bannu, Swat, Mardan and Hazara circles also attended the meeting.

Anwarul Haq Yousafzai took exception to the poor performance of some divisions and termed it unsatisfactory. He said that the performance of some division during March 2016 was not up to the mark.

Keeping in view this poor performance, the CEO suspended XEN of Dir Division Shaukatullah, SDO Gulbahdar, Qaisar Shah, SDO Daudzai, Qazi Fahimullah, SDO Sardheri Rizwanullah, Asad Ali, SDO, Nawan Killay in Swabi, Habibullah, and SDO Nowshera City subdivision.

The CEO told the meeting that he had already ordered that “No overbilling and no adjustment” would be observed, but some officers were not following the orders.He said the Pesco management was committed to once again make the supply company a profitable entity with the cooperation every single employee.

The CEO further said the management was not taking only disciplinary action against those showing poor performance but it is also appreciating good performance of some officers including XEN of Hangu, Gohar Rehman and XEN of Tank Asad Jan.

Reviewing the progress in photometer reading, Anwarul Haq Yousafzai expressed dissatisfaction at the same and sought explanation from two senior superintended engineers (SEs) in this regard.

He also directed the quarters concerned to replace the defective meters by the 30th of the current under the supervision of SE concerned.

The CEO ordered investigation into the increasing trend of the Life Line Consumers (consumers using 50 units monthly) and asked the officials concerned to submit report in this respect.

Anwarul Haq Yousafzai directed the officers in all division to recover Pesco’s Rs56 billion arrears and said the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) should be engaged to recover the outstanding dues.
