Target to enrol0.8m kids in KP govt schools set
PESHAWAR: KP Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Muhammad Atif Khan said on Friday that a huge dropout rate of children from schools is a great challenge, adding that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-led provincial government was following a meaningful educational policy which is yielding positive results.
He stated this while speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the school enrolment campaign 2016 here. A representative of the British Council, Peter, and government officials were also present there, said a handout.
Formally inaugurating the enrollment campaign, the education minister maintained that the government achieved the target of enrolling 700,000 children, last year and target for the year 2016 is 800,000, which would be achieved accordingly.
Atif Khan said seeing every child at school was the mission of government and for the purpose household survey would be conducted this year.The minister said the government schools would be brought on a par with the best educational institutions of the country for getting cherished goal of developed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He asserted that the provincial government was spending billions of rupees on provision of better educational environment in government schools as so far Rs. 14 billion on missing facilities and Rs 12.13 billion on furniture have been utilised.
