‘Doctors in rural areas to be facilitated’
LAHORE
Parliamentary Secretary for Health, Punjab, Khawaja Imran Nazir has said that the Punjab government is facing problems in improving the standard of healthcare in remote areas due to doctors’ unwillingness to serve in rural areas.
“Therefore the Punjab government has decided to link award of specialisation degree to doctors’ mandatory service in rural areas for at least one year or up to one-and-a-half year,” he said while addressing a seminar on “Latest treatment of knee and joint pains - Is it possible without surgery now?” organised by Mir Khalil-ur-Rahman Memorial Society (Jang Group of Newspapers) in collaboration with Advanced Pain Centres here at a local hotel.
Khawaja Imran Nazir, while addressing the seminar, said that the Punjab government would provide maximum facilities to the doctors serving in rural areas and it would also help in improving the standard of health care in Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospitals, Rural Health Centres (RHCs) and Basic Health Units (BHUs) in far-flung areas of the province. He lauded the endeavours of Advanced Pain Centre for bringing latest technology to provide relief to the patients of their body pains without operation. “The treatment of joint pains without surgery has become possible through latest technology,” he added. He said that computer and modern technology confined youths to homes and rendered them inactive, which robbed them of their healthy lives. Previously, he expressed that children used to play outside the houses and their bones and joints were strong. Now time has gone. Children don’t play and prefer to live in the houses. That is why their joints and bones are weak and causing arthritis, joint pains and host of other problems due to lack of activity or exercise.
Prof Dr Mahmood Ali Malik, former Principal King Edward Medical College, said that pain in the body has direct link with the brain, which conveys message about pain in particular part of the body. “Brain has a centre of pain through which it sends a message to whole body,” he said, adding that some people were sensitive and some were not about the pains in their bodies. However, he said, it is important to immediately get rid of the pain to get relief. He advised people to adopt healthy lifestyles to prevent body pains due to disturbance of spine disks, arthritis, knees and joint dislocation and pains in other parts of the body.
The Advanced Pain Centre Chairman Dr Abdul Naeem Naushad said that intensive pain affects/disturbs the daily routine of human life and the patient goes into isolation. However, like in America and other developed countries, a latest technology has also been introduced in Pakistan to provide relief to the patients of joints, ankles and muscles from pain without operation. He said that Advanced Pain Centre was engaged in providing relief to patients of pain in joints, ankles and other parts of body without operation through the use of latest technology. “Advanced Pain Centre has provided countless patients relief from pains and restored their normal life,” he said, adding that only two out of 10 patients required surgery as others get relief from pain through various therapies.
He said that a special team of stem cell surgery had been involved to treat patients of heart, kidneys, paralysis and TB through stem cell therapy. He said that the usage of steroids was destroying the health of people, and added that they had been providing relief to patients from acute pains through latest stem cell therapy. “Steam cells therapy is started not to earn money but to serve the patients,” he added. He expressed that they had brought latest treatment technology to manage body pains so that the people didn’t have to go to India, China and America to get relief from their joint pains and arthritis.
He said that healthcare system in Pakistan had collapsed and people didn’t want to get treatment in public sector hospitals but the poor patients had no choice. He said that the people were also going to quacks due to lack of quality healthcare in government hospitals, which was increasing the burden of diseases in the country.
He said that the well-off people went abroad to get treatment, adding that they had created a team of experts from America in order to provide state-of-the-art treatment to the patients. He said that there was success rate of up to 80 percent of the treatment of diabetes and muscular pain.
Dr Kim, Stem cell Researcher and Biologist, said that human body worked like a machine; therefore, there was a need to change the way of life to get rid of pain. He said that the pains started when blood stopped circulating in the body and didn’t reach joints. While mentioning that there are so many types of stem cell therapy, he said that the healthy cells were extracted from patient’s body and treated through a special process and again inserted in the body and helped remove the pain in different parts of the body. “We are providing relief and treating patients of knee and joints’ pains, arthritis, paralysis, osteoporosis, cancer and several other incurable diseases through this latest method of treatment,” he added. He advised people not to get stem cell therapy treatment if cells were not fresh because the frozen cells caused more complications than healing.
Besides, Mr Clive, Dr Rehana Malik, Dr Waqas A Chaudhry, Interventional Pain Specialist UK, and others also spoke, while the panel of experts answered the questions from members of audience during question and answer session at the end.
MKRMS Chairman Wasif Nagi hosted the seminar, Qari Ahmad Hashmi recited verses from Holy Quran and Usman Siddique recited Na’at.
