Rawalpindi: A report submitted by a committee to the Metro Bus Authority (MBA) about the volume of losses to the Metro Bus Service at the hands of protesters has now been forwarded to the Punjab chief secretary for further deliberation, said an official.

MBA General Manager Aziz Shah said the report prepared by a three-member committee has been forwarded to the Punjab chief secretary who would review it and issue directives to the relevant authorities.

The text of the report showed that half a million commuters suffered due to closure of the Metro Bus Service for four days during which the protesters torched the bus station at Blue Area, causing a loss of Rs28 million.

The commissioner formed a committee on March 29 to find out the volume of losses by the protesters and present the report in this respect. The committee comprised Assistant Director Engineering Branch of RDA Muhammad Nawaz, Manager Operations Technical of Punjab Metro Bus Authority (Rawalpindi) Shumaila Mohsin and Resident Engineer Nespak Ghulam Sarwar.

An official said all damaged parts of the Metro Bus Stations would be repaired in the shortest possible time after issuance of directives by the relevant authorities. “The protest and violence deprived hundreds of thousands of commuters of the state-of-the-art bus service for four consecutive days,” he said.
