Commissioner seeks dangerous buildings report
LAHORE
Commissioner, Lahore Division, has directed the district governments to submit a report of the status of 1,230 dangerous buildings so that a final decision regarding their razing could be taken before the monsoon season.
Commissioner Abdullah Khan Sumbal passed these directions in a meeting on Thursday.
District Coordination Officers (DCOs) of Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura and Nankana and other senior officials attended the meeting.
The meeting was told that there were 251 dangerous buildings in District Nankana out of which 180 buildings were in very dilapidated condition while 71 could be repaired. In District Sheikhupura, there were 219 dangerous buildings out of which 136 are to be demolished while rest could be repaired.
In District Kasur the total dangerous buildings were 325 out of which 305 are to be demolished due to their dilapidated condition while rest could be repaired.
In Lahore District, there are 435 dangerous buildings and out of which 10 are under LDA's jurisdiction, 80 are under Walled City of Lahore Authority and the rest are under City District Government. The commissioner directed the DCOs to submit the report within three days.
WCLA: The Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA) has launched an extensive awareness campaign about dengue inside the walled city here Thursday.
Officials said the campaign included distribution of handout, flyers, seminars and discussions with the community of walled city of Lahore. They said the campaign would run for one month inside all the areas of the walled city.
The campaign will be launched in phases and presently the teams of WCLA were spread out inside Bhati, Lohari and Delhi gates of walled city to engage the citizens in the campaign. This campaign will ultimately cover all the 13 gates within one month.
Nosheen Zaidi, Deputy Director Social Mobilisation WCLA said that the authority had launched this campaign inside Delhi Gate, Lohari Gate and Bhati Gate areas initially.
Asif Zaheer, Director Marketing said the WCLA was trying its best to abide by the orders of the CM and to stand with him for the elimination of Dengue.
