Blaming Bhutto

April 07, 2016
In his short address to the nation, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif repeatedly said that their foundries were taken over by Zulfikar Ali Bhutto in 1972. Bhutto had nationalised hundreds of enterprises, including the Ittefaq Foundary. There was no discrimination against the Sharif family.
The prime minister should have said that their foundries were nationalised instead of blaming Bhutto to have taken over them. Bhutto did not get any benefit from any of the nationalised enterprises, had no offshore companies or overseas investment. The prime minister should be careful in the selection of words in his address to the nation. He should know that his words matter.
