For the daily wagers of Federal Directorate of Education the long wait for the Capital Administration and Development Division’s decision on their demand for service regularisation appears to be over.

The reason is that the top bosses of the CADD, which oversees the FDE, are to meet today (Monday) to finalise the strategy to sort out the longstanding issue once and for all.

Among participants will be Minister of State for CADD Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Secretary Hasan Iqbal, Additional Secretary Qaisar Majeed Malik, Joint Secretary Tariq Moj and senior FDE officials.

Currently, the FDE has 1,000 daily-wage staff members, both teaching and non-teaching, at its educational institutions in the capital.

An insider told ‘The News’ that there was a high likelihood that the CADD would agree to the regularisation of the services of the BPS-15 daily-wage teachers with BA or BEd degrees after interview by a FDE committee and the referring of the cases of those serving in BPS-16 and above to the Federal Public Service Commission for decision.

He said the daily wagers okayed by the FPSC would be offered permanent jobs on the ‘one-candidate-one-seat’ formula.

The insider said those not recommended by the FPSC would be given lower grades, while others were likely to be thrown out.

The FDE has already directed daily-wage teachers of the capital city’s government schools to produce the academic credentials verified by the Inter-Board Committee of Chairmen, Higher Education Commission or other relevant institutions.

The daily wagers said they won’t accept conditions for service regularisation after serving in the FDE long.

They said their services should be regularised without test or interview as was done in the past. The daily wagers warned they would come onto the streets yet again if they felt their jobs were threatened.
