GCU students visit field firing
LAHORE
A large group of students and faculty members from Govt College University (GCU) Lahore visited the Ranges field firing at Tilla Jogian near Jhelum and witnessed live fire power demonstration by troops in a simulated battle environment.
According to an ISPR press release issued on Saturday the visit was meant to enlighten the youth on operational preparedness of Pak Army and encourage a closer interaction to further enhance their morale, motivation and confidence.
The students were thrilled to see the scintillating fire power demonstration of heavy weapons in a coordinated action by artillery to soften enemy positions, advance of armour columns followed by assault by infantry amidst battle sinews caused by heavy gunfire. They were overwhelmed by the air support by PAF jet fighters engaging targets with precision and accuracy during the heat of the battle. The students remained captivated throughout the exercise and chanted full-throated slogans of Nara Takbeer – Allah-o-Akbar and Pak Army–Zindabad.
Later, the students interacted with officers and troops participating in the exercise. Speaking to the students Commander Lahore Corps, Lieutenant General Sadiq Ali said the history of Pak Army was full of acts of valour and sacrifices for the country. He said the officers and jawans of Pak Army were more battle hardened today and possessed the requisite combat efficiency to ensure that defence of the country was impregnable. He also appreciated the zeal and enthusiasm displayed by students and their keen interest in the battle drills.
