Upgradation of the public sector schools in the capital city on the directives of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif earned praise of the local people, who have termed it an unprecedented step to ensure quality education to the students.

“At the time when the education sector has rapidly becoming one of the leading commercialised sectors, upgradation of the public sector schools will greatly help in imparting quality education to those students who cannot afford expensive education in the private schools,” said, Shaheen Dar, a resident of Dhoke Khabba.

She said if the government schools would provide better quality of education, hire specialists for every subject and set a standard strength of a class then no one would move towards the private schools that are being run on commercial basis.

It is pertinent to mention here that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has launched Montessori classes in the federal government schools as part of the Prime Minister’s Educational Reforms Programme aiming at providing quality education to the students. Billions of rupees are being spent on the renovation and upgradation of facilities at the federal schools. So far, 22 schools have been renovated under the education reforms programme.

Tariq Hasan, a resident of G-8 sector, said the education sector needs special attention of the government because the common people cannot afford to send their children to the private schools so it is necessary to provide quality education to students especially belonging to lower strata of the society.
