US drone strikes kill five in NWA

MIRANSHAH: US drone strikes Saturday killed at least five suspected militants in a remote Pakistani tribal town near the Afghanistan border, Geo News reported.

The drone fired two missiles on a compound in Shuwedar village in the troubled North Waziristan region. "US drones fired two missiles into a compound. At least five persons were killed," a security official told.

Local intelligence officials confirmed the attack and casualties. The attack came as people in the deeply religious region celebrated the Muslim festival of Eid- ul-Fitr, they said.

Attacks by unmanned American aircraft are highly unpopular in Pakistan, as they violate its sovereignty and fan anti-US sentiment, but US officials are said to believe the attacks are too important to give up.

- there was this 'killing' of osama in abbottabad. then there was attack on the GHQ. then the naval base was raided in karachi and now the kamra affair. no organization, no matter how incompetent, inefficient, inertia bound, lazy, confused, cowardly, pusillanimous, prurient . . . can allow itself to be humiliated so many times

For Zardari and Co, these killings are too little a cost as they are reciving billions out of coilation support fund and other US aids as a fee to licence drone attacks by USA.That is why now even in hypcratic words, they do not bother to condemn these attacks.

Drone kills militants and Pakistan protests. Does it mean Pakistan supports militants and terrorism brought on by them all over the world including Pakistan?

If the Supreme Court is strong enough to pass judgement on matters that supersede parliament,it is about time the court flexed its muscles against drones. Why don't we ever get details of the people targeted and killed in drones- eg how central they to the terrorist regime? The reality is that this is indiscriminate attacks based on pure speculation often resulting in collateral damage and death of innocent people. I pity our leaders. How do they sleep?

When USA, EU, UK, and India will start appreciating Chinese trade and business policies in their trade and commerce ethics and attitudes, terrorism will stop, and Kashmir, and Palestine dispute will see a peaceful resolution.
