Not for the poor
State-sponsored healthcare in cities and towns is not satisfactory. However, healthcare in remote rural areas is even worse. Although the main concern for a majority of people is access to quality healthcare, it seems that the same is not the top priority of the government. While the elite can get the best medical facilities either at home or abroad, only the poor suffer. In remote areas, the state of healthcare can be made better by introducing mobile clinics. These customised vehicles can travel to remote areas and provide healthcare services to people who cannot afford to travel to big cities for basic medical treatment.
Many hollow promises were made in the past to woo voters. But once the elections time is over all promises are quickly forgotten. It is time the authorities concerned took steps to ensure the welfare of the underprivileged.
