PAPS opened in Lahore
LAHORE: Signs of maturity in the domestic auto industry were visible at the three-day Pakistan Auto Show 2018 in Lahore, inaugurated jointly by member National Assembly Shaista Pervaiz Malik and Italian Ambassador in Pakistan Stefano Pontecorvo.
Organised by the Pakistan Association of Automotive Parts and Accessories Manufacturers (PAAPAM), the event features more than 200 exhibitors, comprising local and international auto manufacturers and related enterprises. This year’s PAPS show theme is “Make in Pakistan”.
The largest selling variants of all the three existing car manufacturers is now averaging over 70 percent, according to the representatives of these companies that were showcasing their brands at the show.
The excellence achieved by the local auto parts manufacturers in many critical items from plastic, electronic to engine parts is visible all over.
This exhibition highlights the tremendous growth and enormous potential of Pakistan’s automobile industry. Along with being the cheapest source of tractors in the world, Pakistan is on target to becoming the future hub for auto manufacturing, according to some optimistic auto parts manufacturers.
They; however, linked the higher progress to the stability and continuity of long-term auto policy.
They warned undue tinkering in the already announced auto policy would create uncertainty and scare investors.
