Two MQM-L men among five suspects held

The paramilitary force said on Tuesday it had arrested five accused, including militants belonging to political parties.

The spokesman for the Sindh Rangers said paramilitary soldiers conducted a raid in Awami Colony and arrested two men, identified as Imran Khan alias Police and Mohammad Jibran. Both were shifted to the Rangers headquarters of the area, where they were found to be associated with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s London fiction and involved in taking extortion money and possessing illegal weapons.

In a raid carried out in Surjani Town, three men, Mohammed Zaman alias Imran Afghani, Shahzad Ali alias Bacha and Mohammad Iftekhar alias Janu, were apprehended over charges of their involvement in street crimes and robberies.

Lyari gangster held

The Darakhshan police claimed to have arrested a notorious gangster of Lyari gang war, who was wanted in connection with heinous crimes, including drug peddling.

The police in a statement said they received credible information that gang war members were involved in smuggling crystal and ice narcotics into Karachi from Balochistan and their ringleader was Zohaib Niazi. The law enforcers, acting on a tip-off, raided a house in Phase V, Badar Commercial, DHA, and arrested Niazi with a rifle, a grenade and a TT pistol.

During the investigation, it was found that the accused belonged to Lyari gang war and had earlier been arrested in cases of terrorism, murder, attempt to murder and possession of illegal weapons. Niazi said that he along with his companions had transported a huge amount of narcotics and sold them in Defence and Clifton.
