Cops booked for torture

HAFIZABAD: An SHO, an ASI and a constable were booked over torturing a 50-year-old labourer. Anjum Shahzad filed an application with Sukheke police, stating that Anwar, 50, had stolen daily use items from his shop. The police took Anwar into custody and tortured him before leaving him limping. According to Anwar, he was working in a local mill and did not commit the theft. The police released him when DSP M Nawaz intervened. When DPO came to know about the torture, he suspended SHO Sajjad, ASI Sajjad Ahmad and constable M Ashraf and detained them in the lock-up.
