PESHAWAR: The Yaum-e-Ashur was observed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa amid tight security. The Yaum-e-Ashur passed off peacefully in the provincial metropolis with mourning meetings and processions were held at 70 Imambargahs here.
Two main mourning processions were held in the city and cantonment areas of the provincial capital, respectively. In the city, small processions appeared from Imambargahs Akhunabad, Agha Syed Alam Shah, Agha Syed Mir Haider Shah, Haji Rahman Malik, Alamdar-e-Karbala, Syed Mustafa Shah Rizvi, Syed Ali Qami, Qadeemi Patharwala, Bahar Ali Kayani, Puran Wali and Mai Malangri. They joined the main procession that passed through different routes of the city.
In the Cantonment area, processions were brought out from Imambargah Hussainia Hall, Garhi Saidan, Hussainabad Tehkhaney Wala, Aal Saadat and Imambargah Faiz Panjtan. They joined the main procession at Peshawar Sadar.
After the end of the mourning processions Sham-e-Ghariban were held at the different imambargahs. The speakers threw light on the sacrifices of the martyrs of Karbala.
Strict security arrangements were made on the occasion. The city and the cantonment areas were completely sealed and the mobile services suspended.
Heavy contingents of police and Frontier Constabulary had been deployed to avert any untoward incident. Volunteers from different organisations of the Shia community also provided security to the processions.
PARACHINAR: The mourning processions were taken out amid tight security on Yaum-e-Ashur in various parts of Parachinar.
A large number of mourners, including children and elderly people participated in the processions and observed the day of Karbala martyrs.
The mourners, while beating their chests and flagellating themselves with chains, paid rich tributes to Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions for their indomitable courage and sacrifice for a true cause.
Stringent security arrangements were in place and mobile phone services remained suspended. Pak-Afghan border also remained closed as precautionary step for failsafe security.
Hospitals and social welfare organizations had established medical camps to treat the injured and ailing participants of the processions.
KOHAT: The mourning procession appeared from the Qaumi Imambargah on Yaum-e-Ashur. Thousands of mourners were in attendance.
The mourning procession after passing through the traditional routes culminated at Ghazi Aleem tomb.
Personnel of police, army and Frontier Constabulary performed security duty to ensure the peaceful observance of the 10th of Muharram.
HANGU: Yaum-e-Ashur was also observed peacefully in Hangu where the mourning procession was taken out from Qaumi Imambargah in Pass Killay at 7am.

MARDAN: Yaum-e-Ashur was observed amid tight security in the district.
Processions were taken out from Imambargah Haideriya. Strict security measures had been taken to ensure peaceful observance of the 9th and 10th of Muharram. Policemen were deployed on Bigut Gunj Bazaar, Bank Road and Shamsi Road.
LAKKI MARWAT: The 10th of Muharram was observed with religious reverence in the district amidst stringent security.
A mourners’ procession appeared from Mohallah Sayyedan in Lakki city and it passed through traditional routes. Led by Syed Zahoor Abbas Shah and Raheel Bukhari, the procession ended at Bukhari Shah Graveyard.
Speaking on the occasion, Syed Zahoor Abbas Shah and Raheel Bukhari highlighted the supreme sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions for the cause of Islam.
They stressed the need for promoting brotherhood, tolerance and patience. The speakers asked the Ummah to forge unity to foil the malicious designs of the enemies against Islam.
DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The Ashura procession was taken out on its tradition route which culminated at the Imambargah Kotli Imam Hussain.
The city was completely sealed as all the shops and bazaars had been closed to foil possible terror threat.
