PESHAWAR: The city police on Thursday recovered a kidnapped person and arrested four people. An official of Tehkal Police Station said that Wajid Ali had lodged a report on May 17, 2015 regarding abduction of his brother, Muhammad Ali. The complainant stated that his brother was doing real estate business on the Nasir Bagh Road and he was kidnapped by unidentified people. The official said the police after the first information report launched efforts for recovery of the kidnapped person. In recent action, the police recovered the captive and also arrested four alleged kidnapers Shahid, Siyar, Wisal and Abdul Hadi.

NOWSHERA: The officials of the Peshawar Electricity Supply Company (Pesco) arrested 35 power thieves during a crackdown, an official said Thursday.Executive Engineer (XEN) Cantonment, Nowshera, Riaz Khan Kakar, said that power thieves were arrested in Manki Sharif area in the district. He said that cases had been filed against all the arrested persons.He warned the power thieves to mend ways or face the music.Our correspondent in Dera Ismail Khan adds: Pesco Thursday disconnected power supply to Bangri and Mamowali villages for non-payment of power tariff amounting to Rs4 million.

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Two persons were killed and three suffered burn injuries when fire broke out in one of the rooms of a hotel on Dera-Bannu bypass here on Thursday.The police officials said that some persons were pouring petrol into a fuel tank in one of the rooms of the hotel when someone threw the butt of a cigarette. They said that the fuel caught fire and the fuel tank exploded, killing Safiur Rehman and Imran on the spot. Shazar Khan, Tayyab and Salman sustained injuries in the incident.The dead and injured were shifted to a local hospital. The room was destroyed due to the explosion while other valuables were also burnt to ashes. The firefighters and local people extinguished the fire after hectic efforts.
JI chief to visit Afghanistan

PESHAWAR: Accepting the Afghan government invitation, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Senator Sirajul Haq on Thursday announced to visit Afghanistan along with a party delegation next month. “There should be people-to-people contacts. We should see the interest of the Afghan people rather of one group,” the JI chief said at a press conference held at Al-Markaz-i-Islami, the party’s headquarters. Sirajul Haq said that the delegation would be leaving for Afghanistan in mid-June on the invitation by Afghan President Ashraf Ghani. “Brotherly relations and trust is necessary between the two Muslim neighbouring countries for peace in the region,” he said.
