ISLAMABAD: The All Pakistan Tahafuz-e-Harmain Sharifain conference held here on Saturday urged the government to standby Saudi Arabia in the wake of Yemen crisis that has been imposed upon the region. The mega conference convened by the daily Pakistan Observer was addressed by the leadership of religious organisations and some strategists, former senior envoys of the country, intellectuals/analysts as well as other distinguished personalities representing various segments of society including the media. It was initiated by Zahid Malik, Editor-in-Chief of the paper.
The conference passed a unanimous resolution urging the government to come out with a clear, bold and loud message of solidarity with the Saudi Arabia without losing any time and pleaded for a positive response from Pakistan to any possible call of Saudi Arabia for the protection of Harmain Sharifain and other sacred places. The resolution pleaded that Pakistan may dispatch some contingents of army for the protection of Harmain Sharifain and other holy places.
If the army, which is already overstretched in dealing with the menace of terrorism and other threats, is cannot be dispatched then a new KSA-specific Division may be raised as Pakistan has rightly established a Division for the protection of Chinese engineers and workforce to be engaged in the construction of Pak-China Economic Corridor.
“A private Security Agency can also be tasked to assemble a Division of able-bodied young men to be imparted army-like professional comprehensive training by the trainers and officers of Pak Army,” the resolution said.
Senator Prof Sajid Mir, Pir Naqibur Rehman, Maj Gen (R) Jamshed Ayaz, former president of Institute of Regional Studies (IRS), senior analyst and columnist Ikram Sehgal, Mian Mehmood President of the Pak-Arab Chambers of Commerce and leader of traders, Secretary General of Pakistan Ulema Council Maulana Intisar Qasmi, Prof Ayub Sabir and Zahid Malik addressed the conference held at Nazria Pakistan auditorium at Fatima Jinnah Park.
