Search operation in Peshawar suburbs likely

PESHAWAR: At many as 120 suspected persons including militants and Afghan nationals residing illegally were taken into custody from various districts of the province on Saturday.
The police arrested three alleged militants after an encounter in Mashogagar and recovered a hand grenade and two pistols from them on Saturday.
The police said the policemen and gunmen exchanged fire near Gula Khan Khwar, after which the law-enforcers managed to arrest Yaghistan, Israr and Saleh Mohammad. Those arrested were wanted by the police in a number of cases.
Meanwhile, the security forces are expected to carry out search operation in the villages sited the boundary between Peshawar and Khyber Agency, sources said.
According to the sources, curfew is likely to be clamped in a number of villages on during the night between Saturday and Sunday.
The sources said the search operation was expected to be conducted in Akakhel, Shalobar, Sheikhan, Achini and other villages. The source said the locals have been directed not to come out of their houses during the crackdown.
Our correspondent in Charsadda adds: The police arrested 77 suspected persons, including 23 illegal Afghan nationals during search operation in the district on Saturday, official sources said.
They said the police launched search and strike operation in the district against the outlaws and arrested 77 suspects, including 23 illegal Afghan nationals, and 17 proclaimed offenders.
The police also seized five Kalashnikovs, 13 pistols, seven shotguns and three kilograms of heroin from their possession.
Our correspondent in Haripur adds: The police arrested 29 suspected persons, including 11 Afghan nationals, during search operation in various areas, including Khalabat Township, on Saturday, official sources said.
They said that the police party headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police-Circle, Saddar Ijaz Khan, arrested 29 suspected persons, including 11 Afghan nationals.
Our correspondent in Nowshera adds: Two suspected militants were arrested in a raid in Akora Khattak here on Saturday, official sources claimed.
The sources said officials from the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Peshawar along with the personnel of the security forces and secret agencies apprehended the two militants aligned with the outlawed Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Mohmand Agency chapter and Jamaatul Ahrar.
The arrested militants, believed to be Afghan nationals, had come from Afghanistan to carry out acts of subversion in Nowshera and Peshawar, the sources added.
The accused, whose names were not disclosed to media, were taken to an unknown place for questioning.
The sources claimed the detained men had carried out several acts of sabotage.
Our correspondent in Kohat adds: The personnel of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) arrested two alleged terrorists and seized explosive devices from them in Muhammadzai area on Saturday, official sources said. The sources said that the two alleged terrorists were arrested during search operation in Muhammadzai area. Two explosive devices were also recovered from them.
Their identity could not be ascertained as they were shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation.
Our correspondent in Landikotal adds: Security forces arrested seven suspects during a search operation in the Jamrud tehsil of the Khyber Agency, official sources said on Saturday.
The security personnel raided several areas, held seven suspicious people and shifted them to an undisclosed location for investigation.
