To raise funds for its educational projects, Developments in Literacy (DIL) is organising a concert of 'sufi' music today (Saturday) at the Pakistan-China Friendship Centre on Garden Avenue featuring 'sufi' vocalist Asrar.
Developments in Literacy educates and empowers underprivileged students, especially girls, by operating student-centred model schools; and provides high-quality professional development to teachers and principals across Pakistan.
Asrar was born on April 20, 1985 in Azad Kashmir, Pakistan. In 1992, his family moved to Hyderabad, Sindh, and then to Lahore in 2007. From early age, he was inspired by 'sufi' music and started writing his own songs. Asrar received training from Ustad Sultan Ahmed Khan in Hyderabad. In 2007, he moved to Lahore where he participated and stood first in Pakistan Musical Conference. In 2011, he released his debut single 'Nai Saiyyo'.
