Islamabad: The Special Committee of the National Assembly on allotment of kiosks, which met here on Tuesday, expressed its serious concerns over cancellation of licences of kiosks along with demolition of cabins by the Capital Development Authority (CDA).
The special committee, which met with MNA Dr. Ibadullah in the chair, observed that the CDA demolished 485 kiosks without any justification as action of the civic body caused grave concern among licence-holders as the small business was the only bread and butter for their families.
The committee members observed that the CDA also continued to collect licence fee during the year 2013 despite the fact the licences were cancelled in 2013. Moreover, the CDA Enforcement Wing also demolished kiosks the owners of which had obtained stay orders from court.
The committee members were also not satisfied with incomplete presentation given by the CDA officials during the meeting. The CDA officials were directed to come up with complete information in the next meeting on Thursday. The Islamabad Cabin Association has also been invited to attend this meeting.
MNAs, including Mian Abdul Mannan, Farhana Qamar, Dr. Mahreen Razzaq Bhutto, Dr. Imran Khattak and Dr. Abdul Qahar Khan Wadan, attended the meeting.
